Update - 06/07/2010
On Wednesday, May 26, 2010 a Victoria County jury found 56-year old Patricia Sattler Crowder, of Victoria, guilty of three counts of forgery - all felony charges. The forgeries took place as Crowder was a caretaker for the elderly victim, now deceased. The victim originally gave statements to his bank that a large sum of money was missing from his checking account and that no one had authorization to take that money or pass checks for the missing amount. The bank then worked with Victoria County Sheriff's Investigator Charles Williamson.
Assistant District Attorneys Arnold Hayden and Brian Hrach prosecuted the case and Judge Joseph "Pat" Kelly presided. Punishment in this case was before Judge Kelly on June 7, 2010. Patricia Sattler Crowder received the maximum allowed sentence allowed under Texas Law, which is 2 years in the State Jail.
