Childcare providers prepare by creating emergency plans, training staff, conducting drills, and storing essential supplies, including food, water, medications, and contact information. Plans also include sheltering in place or evacuating safely, along with ways to support children's emotional needs during stressful situations.
When childcare programs are prepared, they can respond quickly, reduce fear and confusion, and help ensure children remain safe, calm, and cared for until their families can reunite with them. Since young children rely on adults for care and protection, planning is crucial.
